Dissertation Crunchtime

I have been out of touch for a while due to a final push to finish writing the basic text of my dissertation by the end of the month!  My advisor would like me to finish writing the basics of my dissertation by the end of August 2008 and do edits for the last four months of the year.  I have written approx. 55 pages of my dissertation in the last 4 weeks and have a little bit more work to accomplish by Labor Day.  I guess that means that I will be working mostly on my dissertation this weekend. 

Good thing that the view out of our home office is nice!

Dissertation Deadline

Things have been kinda crazy lately in my life.  As most of you probably know, I have been working on my dissertation on Identity during Dynasty XXV in Ancient Egypt over the last quite a number of years.  Well, that time will be coming to an end….

By mutual agreement, my advisor and I have decided that my dissertation must be completed by the end of this calendar year.  That means that my dissertation will be either completed by December 31, 2008 or I will be publishing what I have at that point as an article.  I will, of course, be finishing my dissertation.  After so many years and so much money spent on this dissertation, it will be finished by the end of this year, failure is not an option!

So most of my freetime, in fact almost all of my time that I am not at work, has been spent reading, rereading, writing and rewriting!  I have to finish this thing! 

So far I have been making some good progress and hope to have my lit review section done by the end of this weekend.
