December 12, 2005

It was a very eventful weekend! Claudia and I are a brand-new aunt and uncle. My sister went into labor on Friday night and gave birth to a 6 lb. 11 oz., 19 in. healthy baby boy named Tyler Gordon Hartley at 10:22 am on Saturday, December 10, 2005! The labor went well and both mother and child are happy and healthy. Both sets of grandparents and I kept a vigil for all of Friday night at the Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach. So right after the birth I was able to meet my new nephew and godson for about 5 minutes before I rushed off the LAX to pick up Claudia and we both drove back down to Newport to see the cute new arrival. Claudia got to hold him first and I was able to hold him after that! He is a very cute little guy. Click here to see a few photos.

Our kitty had another bout with sickness recently. She was sick every 2 hours over the course of an entire day and a half. We took her to the vet as soon as we could and found out that her entire digestive tract was inflamed. Needless to say, we got some more medication and administered it over the course of the next week and she got better. It seems that she must have eaten something that was not good for her and to this day we don’t know what it was. Now we don’t let her out into the patio unless we can watch what she is doing every second!

Last weekend my Dad got a new mountain bike and my parents decided to buy me one as well. It is a really great Specialized mountain bike that I have been riding to work every day this week. Today it was raining so I, with much regret, didn’t ride my new bike to work. Apparently Supergo, now bought by Performance Cycles, is liquidating their entire stock of Specialized bikes gear and apparel, which meant that we got a great deal on our purchases that day! I am very thankful to my parents for giving me such a wonderful gift. Thanks Mom and Dad!

Claudia was in Germany this week for the 10 Year Anniversary Celebrations of her organization being held this week in Berlin. The following week Claudia will be in her beautiful hometown of Hannover to have a relaxing visit with her mother. She will also have a chance to visit with a number of her friends during that week.

Some of you may already know but my sister and her husband are expecting their first child this holiday season. The entire family, from both sides of the Atlantic, are excited and will be on hand this holiday season to share in the joy of the birth.
